How to Prestige in Fellwood

Prestige is the spine of Fellwood. A run builds a loud camp. Prestige deletes the buildings and the level-up cards, then pays you in permanent upgrades. If you never reset, you are playing a physics toy. If you reset every two minutes, you never see the shop’s later tiers. This page is the timing and the spend order. Pair it with the Prestige Planner when you want a checklist, and with Getting Started if you have not cashed a single log yet.

What prestige actually deletes

The confirmation text is honest: the current run’s buildings and level-ups go away. Population hires, tree placements, and the live pile go with them. What stays is the prestige shop — more than eighty upgrades across five tiers. Demo players found the second tier only after dumping a large point pile into tier one, then got angry that the node still would not purchase until the spend threshold was met. That is not a bug in the tooltip so much as a shop that hides its own rules. Treat early points as keys, not as damage.

You earn points as rare level-up cards and as a drip while you climb. Some cards simply say “two prestige points.” Grab those even if the rest of the pack looks dull. Luck helps you see them more often because luck also raises card rarity. That loop is why Logs and Acorns and this page keep mentioning the same stat.

When to reset

Reset when the next useful hire costs more than it returns. Typical tells:

  • Collectors are maxed for the layout and the pile still will not drain.
  • Every level-up pack is a wall of commons and you are out of rerolls.
  • You are staring at a locked portrait and the only unlock language you have is “spend more prestige.”
  • Gold per minute has flattened even after a tree evolution.

Do not reset the second you can click the button. The first prestige with one or two points buys almost nothing. Sit until you can afford a start-gold node, extra starting acorns, or Sawmill pull. Then reset. The Buildings Hub ranking assumes you will do this several times; a single infinite run is how the old multiplicative-damage demo taught a bad habit.

What to buy first

Early shop rows that actually change the next run:

  • Starting gold — you skip the awkward minute where the mill has no food.
  • Starting acorns — a second tree is optional; starting with enough acorns to plant and evolve is the real prize.
  • Manual-shot bonus — feeds Active Abilities and clover events.
  • Log push radius / force — you remain the backup collector.
  • Sawmill pull range — the upgrade people skip and then complain the mill is “too far.”
  • Extra rerolls — the card game is the run.
  • Starting workers on axes or ice — only after the economy nodes.
  • Luck / log rarity — compounds forever. Patch notes also buffed tier 5 damage and luck and made the double gold log prestige apply to every golden variation.

Skip “start with more people in a building you do not understand yet.” Skip stacking one damage type because a screenshot from June still shows Electro Wizard at 100×. Allerton Apps switched to additive damage so every building stays viable. Wizards explains the leftover Electro panic.

Five tiers and hidden upgrades

Building panels hide extra nodes behind acorn purchases and behind prestige-tier unlocks. “Greater ice shard” and friends do not always print the requirement until you have already bought the entire lower row. If a node sits there looking decorative, check the prestige shop for a tier gate before you assume the formula is broken. How to Unlock Buildings maps Mages, Engineers, and those gated portraits.

Clover luck from Events lasts until you prestige. That is a reason to delay a reset if clovers just spiked your rarity, and a reason to reset if the spike is over and the camp is bored.

How this guide uses the video

The embedded playthrough is a full Fellwood session that walks HQ, cards, collectors, and the shop without a script. Use it as motion reference, not as a spend bible — the additive patch and Hotfix 1.0.1 both landed around launch. For numbers that still match live Steam, prefer Patch Notes and the planner tool. For whether the loop is worth another hour, read Review.

Sibling reads: Getting Started if the shop is still a mystery because you never staffed the mill; Controls if you keep missing the prestige button because a level-up box ate the click — Hotfix 1.0.1 delayed that box on purpose.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions Fellwood players ask after their first prestige.

Does prestige delete my buildings in Fellwood?

Yes. Buildings and level-up cards reset. Permanent shop upgrades stay, including start gold, acorns, pull range, and luck.

How do I earn prestige points?

They appear as rare level-up choices and as a drip while you level. Luck makes those rare cards show up more often.

What should I buy first in the prestige shop?

Start gold, start acorns, Sawmill pull, rerolls, and luck. Delay single-building damage until the economy nodes are online.
