Fellwood demo versus the full game
App 4777870 still exists. August 14, 2026 is the ruleset this wiki defaults to.
Fellwood shipped a public demo long enough for Steam threads, YouTube sessions, and a balance rewrite. The full game launched August 14, 2026 at $6.99 with a short 10% intro discount. The demo remains listed (app 4777870). This page is the difference sheet. Patch Notes is the timeline. Review is the buy/skip. Getting Started is what you do after you pick a build.
What the demo already was
The demo taught the real loop: HQ and acorns on the right, attack buildings on the left, collectors into the Sawmill, cards, a prestige shop. It also taught the wrong combat math. Damage started multiplicative, so one building won. Josh switched the demo to additive after players said so in discussions. If a YouTube video from early summer only upgrades Electro, it is a history tape. Wizards.
The same demo update added 64 log variations, gold types, and three named events: Timber Rush (logs fall; tier follows your pile), Fellstorm (lightning on ~50+ active logs, nearby logs tier up), and Lucky Breeze (clovers; manual shots only; luck until prestige). Events. Those systems are in 1.0. They are not demo-only weather.
The demo locked later portraits. Players who write “I cannot find Mages” on the full game are sometimes still thinking in demo walls. The full roster is 17 buildings. Some walls are now prestige gates instead of demo gates. How to Unlock Buildings.
What 1.0 added on top
Launch copy and Josh’s “out now” post promise the full 17, 80+ prestige nodes, 100+ card options, active abilities, events, and projectile tiers. Cannons and Projectile Tiers covers the siege nouns the short description already used. Level-Up Cards covers the box. What Is the Goal covers the people who finished the demo tutorial and asked Steam what they were supposed to be doing.
Hotfix 1.0.1 (launch day) is a full-game note: longer delay before a level-up click registers, log tooltip flicker fixed. It is not a demo hotfix. If your demo still flickers, that is expected.
Should you play the demo first?
Yes, if you bounce off incrementals, if the tutorial reviews scare you, or if you want to feel additive damage before you pay. The demo is the honest trailer: physics pile, mill, prestige menu.
Skip it and buy, if you already finished Dwarves Eat Mountain or a similar artillery incremental and you came for the full shop. The demo will hide the portraits you came to unlock.
Do not keep a demo save as your mental model of the shop. Prestige rerolls, gold-log prestige covering all golden variants, and tier-5 luck/damage bumps were demo-era fixes that 1.0 inherits. The Prestige Planner assumes that live shop.
Cross-links the demo cannot replace

- Combat mix: Buildings Hub.
If a sentence on this wiki says “the demo locked this,” believe it. If it says “the live game still gates this,” that is a prestige wall, not a missing installer. Josh’s pinned Demo Q&A + Full Release Plans thread was the pre-launch promise; the August 14 news post is the delivery. We follow the news post.
Sibling updates: notes, review, requirements, this page. Play the build you own, then prestige.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions Fellwood players ask after their first prestige.
Is the Fellwood demo still available?
Yes. Steam still lists a demo (app 4777870) next to the full game. Use it to test the loop before you pay.
Does the demo include Mages and Engineers?
The demo hid later portraits. The full 17-building roster and prestige-gated unlocks belong to 1.0. Grey art is usually a shop wall.
Are demo videos still accurate?
For the mill and the pile, yes. For one-building multiplicative damage, no. Trust additive ranks on the Buildings Hub.
