Fellwood cannons and projectile tiers
The store promises cannons and several projectile tiers. Here is what that means after the additive patch.
The Steam short description says you bombard the forest with axes, ballistas, cannons, and magic. The feature list adds multiple projectile tiers that raise firepower. This page is the siege slot on the Buildings Hub. It does not invent cannon DPS. It places cannons in the same additive-damage world as Attack Buildings and Wizards, and it tells you when a “tier” is a shop gate rather than a new toy.
What we can say without guessing numbers
- The full roster is 17 buildings. Axes, archers, ballistas, three wizard colors, HQ, and Sawmill are the early set players actually see. Cannons sit in the store copy as a later or parallel siege line. Mages and Engineers are the names Steam threads keep asking about. Unlock order is on How to Unlock Buildings.
- Projectile tiers are not a separate game mode. They are upgrades that change what leaves the building: heavier axes, piercing bolts, fatter spells, eventually a cannonball that occupies the same slot rules as everything else (population assigned per building; buildings can share a plot).
- After the demo’s additive damage rewrite, a cannon that used to multiply a camp will not. A cannon that adds a fat slow shot next to ice shards is how the designer wants the plateau to look.
If a portrait is still grey, you are not missing a tutorial click. You are under-spent in the prestige shop or still in the demo. Demo vs Full Game.
How to rank a cannon you just unlocked
Use the same tests as ballistas:
- Can you drag-aim it? Manual shots and tree targets are the active layer. A back-row cannon you cannot drag is a statue. Active Abilities.
- Does the mill keep up? A louder pile with no collectors is a screenshot. Collectors and Sawmill.
- Is the card table feeding it only? Building-specific cannon cards are seasoning. Global damage and luck still win a mixed camp. Level-Up Cards.
- Did you already hit a soft cap elsewhere? Axe ricochet chance ~90% and count ~8 are the published caps. Do not starve a new cannon to push a capped axe line.
Until a patch publishes cannon-specific caps, treat siege as slow, fat, manual-friendly. That is the ballista lesson applied to a bigger noun.
Projectile tiers in practice
A tier is usually a node that wants previous purchases — the same “buy this three times to unlock the next art” pattern playthroughs show on weighted axes. Advanced Artillery on the achievement list is the icon that most likely cares about this ladder. Achievements.
Practical rule: unlock the next visual tier when the mill is already healthy. A prettier projectile that the collectors cannot cash is a trailer, not a build. Logs and Acorns if the new tier starts dropping louder gold variants. Events if Fellstorm or Timber Rush suddenly looks better because the pile is fatter.
Where cannons sit on this hub’s ranks
The hub still lists Ice + collectors as S and back-row anything as D. A newly unlocked cannon starts as unranked-but-promising: B if you can aim it and the mill is staffed, D if you parked it behind HQ. When Allerton Apps posts a cannon note, Patch Notes will get the line and this page will stop being cautious.
Do not spend a first prestige on a cannon shrine. The Prestige Planner still wants start gold, acorns, and pull range. Siege is a mid-shop toy. What Is the Goal if you unlocked a cannon and still feel like the game forgot to give you a boss — it did not forget. The boss is the next shop row.
Sibling ranks: attack buildings, wizards, collectors, logs. Sibling guides: unlocks, cards, abilities. Official words: Links.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions Fellwood players ask after their first prestige.
Does Fellwood have cannons?
The Steam copy lists cannons with axes, ballistas, and magic. They are part of the 17-building roster, often behind prestige or projectile-tier gates.
What are projectile tiers?
Upgrade rungs that change the shot leaving a building. They are not a separate mode. Buy them after the mill can cash the louder pile.
Should I prestige into cannons first?
No. Additive damage wants a mix, and the first shop rows should be start gold, acorns, and Sawmill pull.
