What is the goal in Fellwood
There is no last tree. The goal is a camp that still fires after the fifth prestige shop row.
A launch-week Steam thread is titled Goal of the game? That is not a troll. Incremental games hide the win condition on purpose. Fellwood has no raid, no story beat, no “you saved the forest” cutscene. The store pitch is a lumber empire that bombards trees until the pile looks illegal. The goal is to keep that loop interesting after the first hour. This page answers the thread without inventing a boss. If you want the clicks, start at Getting Started. If you want the shop, start at How to Prestige.
The short answer
You are trying to:
- Plant trees and staff attackers so logs exist.
- Staff collectors so logs become gold.
- Spend gold on a mixed camp after the additive-damage patch.
- Take level-up cards that fund luck and prestige points.
- Prestige into a five-tier shop (80+ permanent nodes).
- Unlock later portraits — including the Mages and Engineers Steam keeps asking about — by spending enough of that shop. How to Unlock Buildings.
- Touch the 59 Steam icons if you like lists. Achievements.
There is no “you win.” There is a camp that is louder than last night. That is the genre working.
What the game is not asking you to do
It is not asking you to finish a campaign. It is not asking you to host friends — it is single-player with Steam Cloud. It is not asking you to stack one building forever. That was the demo trap. Allerton Apps switched damage to additive so a mixed plateau is the intended endgame, not a 100× Electro shrine. Wizards and the Buildings Hub are the rebuttal.
It is not asking you to AFK through clover winds. Events — officially Timber Rush, Fellstorm, and Lucky Breeze — exist so you still have a hand on the mouse. Lucky Breeze luck dies on prestige. If you never shoot a clover, you are playing half the design.
How to know you are “done” with a run
A run is done when the next hire or the next common card does not move gold. Grey portraits you cannot honestly rush are another tell. Prestige. Buy start gold, acorns, Sawmill pull, luck. Repeat. The Prestige Planner is the shopping list so “the goal” does not become window-shopping.
If you are asking the Steam question because the tutorial felt thin, you are not wrong. Typewriter text, a short HQ lesson, then a wall of locked art. The goal after that wall is not to find a secret click. It is to prestige until the wall opens. Review is honest about that first-hour pain.
Demo versus “am I playing the real game?”
The demo still exists (Steam app 4777870). It taught the loop and hid later portraits. The full release on August 14, 2026 is the default ruleset on this wiki. If your goal is “see if I like incrementals,” play the demo first. If your goal is Mages, Engineers, and the full shop, buy 1.0. Demo vs Full Game is the comparison.
A goal you can finish this evening
- First hour: one tree, axes, collectors, one target shot, one prestige.
- Second hour: ice or a second color, pull range, a clover wind.
- Third hour: a gold log, a luck card, a shop row that is not vanity damage.
- Whenever: one new portrait and one named achievement.
That is a complete session. The forest will still be there tomorrow. Cannons and Projectile Tiers if the store line about cannons is the thing you came to unlock. Controls if a Deck is why the goal feels unreachable. Links if you want Josh’s own words instead of ours.
Sibling pages: every guide, because “what is the goal?” is the index question. Come back here when a friend asks the same Steam title. Send them this page, then Getting Started.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions Fellwood players ask after their first prestige.
Is there an ending in Fellwood?
No campaign finale. The goal is a mixed camp, a five-tier prestige shop, and later building unlocks. You stop when the loop stops being fun.
What should I be aiming at after the tutorial?
A clean first prestige, then Sawmill pull and luck. Grey portraits open from shop spend, not from a hidden world click.
Does Fellwood have a high score?
Damage and gold go up. Achievements exist. There is no online board. Steam Cloud keeps the save; friends cannot join the valley.
